William And Lucas’ First Fish

The boys and I had a great afternoon yesterday! They caught their first fish.

I took them to Short Beach to fish around the jetties. We stood on the beach and cast our rods near the rocks. After about an hour of them fishing with their shiny tin lures and school of snappers came in chasing an even larger school of some tiny fish. I didn’t even see them coming until William yelled, “Lucas caught a fish.”

I was so excited for him! I dropped my rod and ran over to help him but he already had it in. I unhooked it for him and we set it free.

As soon as I got that fish back in the water William had cast into the same spot that Lucas had and instantly he had a snapper on his line too. What luck! I could not have asked for a better outcome to our fishing afternoon.

We’ll be fishing again soon. I enjoyed the fishing, spending time with my boys, and finding another way to get off of the couch and outside.
